Zoroastrian Almanac (zAlmanac)

Last updated: July 18, 2026 · Country of origin: United Arab Emirates · Applies to app version 4.0 and later

zAlmanac is built with your privacy in mind. The app does not require an account. Almost all data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what is used, what leaves your device, and why.

Interpretation and Definitions

In this policy, Application refers to Zoroastrian Almanac (zAlmanac). Company, We, Us and Our refer to the developer of Zoroastrian Almanac. Device means your phone or tablet. You means the person using the app.

Information We Collect and Use

Location

The app requests access to your device location for three purposes only:

Your coordinates are processed on-device and through the two external services described below. They are not sent to the developer's servers. A cached copy of your latitude and longitude is saved locally so the app can function when GPS is unavailable. You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings. If you do, the app falls back to a default location and continues to work.

Personal Events (My Events)

Birthdays, anniversaries, Navjote dates and other occasions you save are stored in a local database on your device only. This data is never transmitted anywhere. If you uninstall the app, all saved events are permanently deleted. Your events persist safely across app updates.

Notifications

If you enable daily notifications, the app stores your preferences (on/off, chosen time, calendar type) locally on your device. Notifications are scheduled entirely on-device — no server is involved. Notification permission can be revoked at any time in your device Settings.

App Preferences

Your calendar type (Shahenshahi, Kadmi or Fasli), timezone, theme, greeting-share allowance and other settings are saved locally on your device and are never transmitted.

Greeting Cards

Greeting messages and cards you create are composed on-device and shared only through your operating system's share sheet or the messaging app you choose. The developer never receives, stores or sees your greetings.

Bug Reports (optional)

If you choose to send a bug report from Settings → Support, the following is transmitted over HTTPS to a server operated by the developer:

Bug reports are delivered to the developer's mailbox, used only to investigate and fix the reported issue, and are not shared with third parties or used for marketing. To request deletion of a submitted report, contact us through a new report referencing the original. Sending a bug report is entirely optional — no report is ever sent automatically.

Third-Party Services

Each time the app opens, it makes two network requests to determine your location name and timezone. These carry only your latitude and longitude — no personal information.

Reverse Geocoding — Nominatim / OpenStreetMap

Converts your coordinates to a readable city name. Only your coordinates and a generic app identifier are sent.

Timezone API

Confirms your precise UTC offset so notifications fire at the correct local time. Only your coordinates are sent. No personal information is included.

Both requests are made over HTTPS with a timeout. If either fails, the app continues using cached values. Neither service receives any personally identifiable information.

Advertising — AdMob by Google

The free version of the app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. These include:

AdMob may use device identifiers and technical information to serve ads in accordance with Google's privacy policy. The developer does not pass any personally identifiable information to AdMob and does not have access to AdMob data about individual users. Purchasing Remove Ads or Premium Lifetime disables all advertising.

Your Advertising Choices (GDPR / UK)

If you are in a region where consent is required (such as the EEA or UK), a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform is shown before ads are served, letting you choose between personalised and non-personalised ads. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via Settings → Support → Manage privacy choices inside the app (this option appears only in regions where it applies).

In-App Purchases

The app offers two optional one-time purchases: Remove Ads and Premium Lifetime. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The developer never receives or stores your name, card number, billing address, or any other payment details. The only information stored by the app is a local record of which product is unlocked, so your purchase keeps working offline. Purchases can be restored on a new device using Settings → Support → Restore purchases. Refunds are governed by Apple's and Google's own policies.

In-App Review

The app may occasionally prompt you to leave a review using the operating system's native review mechanism (Apple SKStoreReviewController / Google Play Review API). The developer does not see whether you submitted a review, your rating, or any review text.

What This App Does NOT Do

Retention and Deletion of Your Data

With the sole exception of bug reports you choose to send, all data is stored on your device. There is no developer-operated server holding your personal data.

Children's Privacy

The Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it promptly.

Security

Because the app transmits almost no personal data, the primary security boundary is your device. All local data uses your operating system's standard private storage. All network requests are made over HTTPS. No method of storage is 100% secure; if you are concerned you can delete all app data by uninstalling the app.

Links to Other Websites

The Settings screen contains external links (feedback form, store rating, Buy Me a Coffee). These are external services with their own privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content or practices.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy at this URL and updating the date at the top. You are advised to review this page periodically. Changes are effective when posted.
