Zoroastrian Almanac (zAlmanac)

Last updated: April 11, 2026  ·  Country of origin: United Arab Emirates

zAlmanac is built with your privacy in mind. The app does not require an account. It does not collect your name or email. Almost all data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what is used and why.

Interpretation and Definitions

In this policy, Application refers to Zoroastrian Almanac (zAlmanac). Company, We, Us and Our refer to the developer of Zoroastrian Almanac. Device means your phone or tablet. You means the person using the app.

Information We Collect and Use

Location

The app requests access to your device location for three purposes only:

Your coordinates are processed on-device and through the two external services described below. They are not sent to the developer's servers. A cached copy of your latitude and longitude is saved locally so the app can function when GPS is unavailable. You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings. If you do, the app falls back to a default location and continues to work.

Personal Events (My Events)

Birthdays, anniversaries, Navjote dates and other occasions you save are stored in a local database on your device only. This data is never transmitted anywhere. If you uninstall the app, all saved events are permanently deleted. Your events persist safely across app updates.

Notifications

If you enable daily notifications, the app stores your preferences (on/off, chosen time, calendar type) locally on your device. Notifications are scheduled entirely on-device — no server is involved. The daily briefing showing your Roj, Mah, Saal and any personal events is calculated locally. Notification permission can be revoked at any time in your device Settings.

App Preferences

Your calendar type (Shahenshahi, Kadmi or Fasli), timezone, daylight saving status and other settings are saved locally on your device and are never transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Each time the app opens, it makes two network requests to determine your location name and timezone. These carry only your latitude and longitude — no personal information.

Reverse Geocoding — Nominatim / OpenStreetMap

Converts your coordinates to a readable city name. Only your coordinates and a generic app identifier are sent. Privacy policy: wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy

Timezone API

Confirms your precise UTC offset to ensure notifications fire at the correct local time. Only your coordinates are sent. No personal information is included.

Both requests are made over HTTPS with a timeout. If either fails the app continues using cached values. Neither service receives any personally identifiable information.

Advertising — AdMob by Google

The free version of the app displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers and technical information to serve contextually relevant ads in accordance with their own privacy policy. The developer does not pass any personally identifiable information to AdMob and does not have access to AdMob data about individual users.

In-App Review

The app may occasionally prompt you to leave a review using the operating system's native review mechanism (Apple SKStoreReviewController / Google Play Review API). The developer does not see whether you submitted a review, your rating, or any review text. This is handled entirely by Apple or Google.

What This App Does NOT Do

Retention and Deletion of Your Data

All data is stored on your device. There is no developer-operated server holding your data.

Children's Privacy

The Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it promptly.

Security

Because the app does not transmit personal data to developer-controlled servers, the primary security boundary is your device. All local data uses your operating system's standard private storage. Network requests are made over HTTPS. No method of storage is 100% secure; if you are concerned you can delete all app data by uninstalling the app.

Links to Other Websites

The Settings screen contains a feedback link and a support link. These are external services with their own privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content or practices.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy at this URL and updating the date at the top. A notice will also appear in the app's Settings screen. You are advised to review this page periodically. Changes are effective when posted.
